| Work Detail | After over 15 years, Huda has finally managed to complete the construction of Sector 12A Road. The road connects the sector — one of Gurgaon's oldest — with other areas, including the bus stand, Sheetla Mata Road and sectors 5 and 7. Huda had acquired land for the sector's main road in 1981, but could not take its possession for several years. And for the past 15 years, road construction was held up due to litigation and encroachment by the land's owner, who had dragged Huda to court even after taking compensation. Only last year, the urban development body began construction, following a favourable ruling from the Punjab and Haryana high court. "After the high court's ruling, it was decided to construct the road, which was pending for more than 15 years," Huda administrator Yashpal Yadav told TOI on Monday. "Gurgaon has faced a lot of problems in the recent past due to some incomplete projects, and all such projects need to be completed in the interest of the public at large," he added. Residents, who had for years blamed Huda for the dilapidated condition of the sector's main road, have now heaved a sigh of relief. "It has come as a big relief for local residents. We had been complaining to Huda for years to construct the road. For all these years, we faced problems due to incomplete road and the rainy season used to be a nightmare," said OP Kataria, president of Sector 12A RWA. |
