Work Detail Work is underway to open land for the second carriageway and preparations begin for the construction of concrete bridges that will favor water drainage. The investment is almost 40,000 million pesos. One month after the announcement of the start of work, we can see the results of the work of the machinery that opened the second hand that is being built on the west bank of the current section of Route 11 that connects the cities of Mar Chiquita and Villa Gesell. These are the first concrete steps on the projects territory to convert those almost 80 kilometers into a highway that, once completed, will provide greater quality of vehicular traffic and, above all, greater road safety conditions. The starting point was the earthworks that began just over a kilometer from the Mar Chiquita toll plaza, as far as the 35-kilometer stretch of highway that connects with Mar del Plata. This continuity occurs with this work carried out by the Highway Directorate of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services through a private operator that won the corresponding tender. At a time when the continuity of public works has been questioned, we can see the machinery that has already left this second and complementary route visible, as well as the iron that will serve as support for the concrete corresponding to the bridges that will allow them to run. water courses that arrive from the fields in the area and drift towards the coast. The work to be carried out foresees a second pavement layout, independent of the existing one, with a width of 73 meters and about 16 meters from the current route, which for now is maintained with the usual double lane and the dangers that this implies. The work program, as announced a month ago, will be carried out in two sections on the northwest side of the route: from the Villa Gesell access roundabout to Channel 5 (39.4 km) and from Channel 5 to Mar Chiquita (33 km). The tasks include the construction of paved shoulders on both carriageways and level return systems every 3.5 km of the new route, along with the duplication of 7 bridges over permanent water courses and 54 culverts. The existing intersections at the accesses to Villa Gesell, Mar Azul and Mar de las Pampas will also be remodeled, and a new rotational intersection will be built at the access to Mar Chiquita. On the other hand, a new toll station with 8 control booths will be built between Km 479 and Km 480, replacing the existing facilities located at the access to the spa. Finally, passenger docks and shelters, pedestrian walkways at the EP School No. 12 and at the access to the Mar Chiquita Spa, lighting at intersections and horizontal, vertical and aerial signage will be built. In total, the work involves an investment of $39,895 million that will be 100% financed by the Province, through its own sources and a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The work, which borders the Mar Chiquita Albufera -declared a Biosphere Reserve and Wildlife Reservoir-, includes special management and monitoring measures incorporated in the Environmental and Social Management Plan, the construction of 6 culverts for the passage of fauna, 3 recreational spaces with viewpoints and interpretive environmental signage, and installation of signage on porches to identify the reserve area. Route 11 will thus add a new section of highway and will maintain two others pending execution. One, 54 kilometers between Pinamar and Mar de Ajó. The other, 45 between Mar del Plata Miramar.
