Work Detail The state-owned Electric Generation Company Punta Catalina opens a request for expression of interest for the construction of a photovoltaic installation. The Punta Catalina Electric Generation Company (EGEPC), a state-owned power plant in the Dominican Republic composed of two coal-fired thermoelectric units that generate a total of 720 MW synchronized in the National Interconnected Electric System (SENI), has opened a call for the construction of a 40 MWp solar plant for self-consumption. The plant covers up to 30% of the electricity demand of the Caribbean country. Specifically, the so-called Expression of Interest proposes a project for “the design, supply, import, customs clearance, transportation to the site, installation, assembly, commissioning, personnel training and warranty support of all the necessary components, to build a photovoltaic solar park with a capacity of at least 40MWp, whose electrical energy will be injected into the auxiliary services bars of CTPC units 10 and 20 for self-consumption purposes.” Some of the requirements specified in the document titled Proposal of Technical Specifications refer, for example, that “the period for the execution of the project, counted from the signing of the contract and until final receipt, should not exceed 18 calendar months.” Regarding the photovoltaic modules, they must be “mono-face and direct current (DC) power output”, each one have a minimum nominal power “not less than 420Wp”, be “based on monocrystalline silicon technology”, come from of “a single manufacturer, make and model”, and “appear on the “Tier 1” list of Bloomberg New Energy Finance” The investors, for their part, "will be from recognized brands in the international market for photovoltaic projects that certify, in a verifiable manner by EGEPC, ??that they have been installed in at least 10 parks with an installed capacity equal to or greater than the Project." The minimum guarantee requested for the operation of the plant is 5 years “counted from the delivery date” and must include extensive coverage. Interested parties must submit documentation until March 8: on the one hand, a Letter of Expression of Interest that includes data on business experience in similar projects; on the other hand, a Letter of observations, suggestions and questions about the proposed technical specifications. An information meeting will be held on March 1 at the Punta Catalina Thermoelectric Power Plant, located in Bani, province of Peravia. Those interested in participating must confirm their presence by email to parquesolar@puntacatalina.com.do until February 29.
