Supply by the contracted companies will begin on September 1, 2026 for existing renewable plants and until January 1, 2029 for new renewable plants. It is expected to create up to 4,600 new local jobs. The public tender is scheduled for the first four months of 2024, and the specifications will be published throughout the month of February. According to IRENA statistics from March 2023, Panama had an estimated 522 MW of photovoltaics.
