In a significant development, Fluence Energy, Inc., a prominent provider of energy storage products, services, and optimization software, has announced the expansion of its contract with Atmos Renewables. The expansion aims to optimize an impressive 870 MW portfolio of wind and solar assets in Australia’s National Electricity Market (NEM).
Atmos Renewables will deploy Fluence’s Nispera™ asset performance management (APM) software to enhance the operational performance of the asset portfolio. This initiative complements Atmos Renewables’ existing use of Fluence’s Mosaic™ AI-powered bidding software for optimizing asset market trading.
The contract expansion entails the implementation of Nispera’s advanced features, including Loss Breakdown Analysis and a new grid curtailment loss metric. These enhancements provide near real-time visibility into energy production losses, allowing for swift identification of performance improvement opportunities.

He highlighted Fluence’s commitment to providing advanced software solutions tailored to the challenges faced by traders and asset managers in scaling diverse portfolios of renewables and storage assets.
The curtailment of renewables poses a significant challenge in Australia’s clean energy transition, with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) reporting nearly a 40 percent increase in curtailment of renewable generation in 2023. The integration of Mosaic and Nispera aims to address this challenge by enabling Atmos Renewables to identify and mitigate losses from grid constraints efficiently.
Jason Porter, General Manager of Operations at Atmos Renewables, emphasized the benefits of Fluence’s software solutions in providing increased visibility into asset performance potential. He highlighted the importance of automated monitoring in facilitating swift actions and streamlining manual data collection and analysis processes.
