Work Detail Construction on a new Amtrak station in Brattleboro is scheduled to commence March.This station will be served by Amtrak’s Vermonter, Enfield Enterprises, LLC based in Springfield Mass has been contracted to carry out the work. It will feature the first high-level passenger platform in Vermont. The Amtrak station development project was accepted through by the Development Review Board in December 2020. Construction cost Construction Cost for the new Amtrak station in Brattleboro is estimated to be $10 million. In November 2020, Amtrak revealed that they were in talks with the Town of Brattleboro, New England Central Railroad and Vermont for a recent proposal on ADA-compliant new station. New station will involve a new station building, platform and track alterations. Other ADA features include parking, ramps and steps to the level of platform there will be also lights signage new waiting room with attached restroom covered outdoor seating. Moreover, the contractor will replace old siding track and switches while installing new platform which is 345 feet long with height of set at forty-eight inches. Levels above the rail, a component that will enable level boarding. To build the new station, Amtrak obtained a go-ahead from the New England Central Railroad. It also had to work with the Vermont Agency of Transportation, National Park Service State Historic Preservation Offices & and Green Mountain Power. New England Central track and switches will be reconstructed as well as platform 48 inches above the rail. This new station will have 36 seat on waiting area, restroom and an outdoor covered with benches. The Jobs Act’s funding is to help finance energy and power infrastructure, broadband internet accessibility, water infrastructure, etc. Some of the new programmes funded by this bill would help provide resources that local infrastructure problems may require. Completion date new Amtrak station in Brattleboro is scheduled to be constructed in two years. In its operation, Amtrak uses the basement of Brattleboro Museum & Art Center to act as their station in Brattleboro. This space used for the waiting room was previously utilized as a baggage storage area when this building is being an active train station since its opening in 1916 until closure of it in 1967. The waiting room which is use by Amtrak is located at the bottom floor of Brattleboro Union Station. The other two levels are art museums.In the year 2023, Brattleboro’s annual ridership was estimated at $15.
