Work Detail |
Essar Projects – the global EPC arm of Essar – was awarded the contract for providing pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up services for the 650,000 BPD greenfield refinery being set up by Dangote Oil Refining Company Ltd. (DORCL) in Lekki Free Zone of Nigeria.
Amidst challenges of managing diverse interphases & coordination with multiple partakers, Essar Projects’ team cross-checked and ensured that all the units that had been constructed were safe for commissioning. Thereafter, procedures & execution methodology for Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, Start-up and Stabilization were developed and finally, the team has commenced Commissioning of various Units – thus enabling Dangote Refinery to achieve the significant milestone of beginning the production of Diesel and Aviation fuel. All this was undertaken while adhering to all the HSE standards.
Some of the major processing facilities at the refinery include a Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and associated facilities, a Mild Hydrocracking (MHC) unit, a Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) unit, a Naphtha Hydrotreater (NHT), and a Gasoline Hydrodesulphurization (GHDU) unit, Alkylation units, RFCC Gasoline Desulphurization Unit (RGDU), Hydrogen Generation Unit (HGU) and Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) to produce sulphur-free fuels. There is also a Polypropylene Unit (PPU).
Essar Projects is steering the Commissioning activities of the world’s largest single-train refinery and will continue to support the DORL team through start-up and stabilization. |
