In a significant stride towards renewable energy, the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Romeo Mikautadze, along with Jaba Khmaladze, director of JSC “Georgian Energy Development Fund,” convened with Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, director of the United Arab Emirates state company “Masdar.” Their meeting centered around the joint initiative between JSC “Georgian Energy Development Fund” and Masdar to execute Georgia’s largest solar power plant project. The collaboration involves the establishment of a joint venture within Georgia, marked by the signing of a crucial agreement to propel the project forward. Plans are underway to finalize a memorandum with the Government of Georgia and proceed with necessary feasibility studies in the near future. The discussions underscored Georgia’s favorable investment climate, with particular emphasis on government support for renewable energy development. Besides the ongoing project, the parties explored potential avenues for future collaboration. The New Samgori Solar Power Plant project aims to diminish reliance on imports, diversify local electricity sources, and align with renewable energy and climate change objectives outlined in the Association Agreement. The initiative is anticipated to generate employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases of the project. |
