Work on the “Capitán Vicente Almandos Almonacid” International Airport in La Rioja is advancing.

The new terminal at La Rioja International Airport will have 3600m2 and a new VIP lounge. The placement of coatings has already been completed and the construction of the parking lot for 200 vehicles is 25% complete.
The works at Almonacid Airport are divided into three stages: terminal, parking and apron. The construction of the new passenger terminal will not affect the air function since while the work lasts, the airport will continue to operate with the existing terminal, normally.
About the new terminal
The new terminal will have 3600m2 in total and will be built on a single floor that will optimize passenger circulation. 1,300 m2 will be an operational surface consisting of a 500m2 public hall, check-in space with 6 counters, a new baggage carousel and a 330m2 pre-boarding area, a 290m2 arrivals area, 165m2 office space for airlines and a 66m2 VIP room.
The building will feature two predominant materials: stone and glass. The stone will be the local reference material, since it will be Laja La Rioja, which is made up of reddish and ocher tones. Glass will be the global reference material. Being a seismic zone, all materials will be placed under the necessary technical specifications so that this geographical condition does not deteriorate them.
In addition, it will have a technical building and a fixed control post (covered and semi-covered area of ??700m2). 50m2 of commercial premises will be allocated and the gastronomic offer will be in two sectors, one in the hall and another in the pre-boarding area.
Finally, the works will be completed with the expansion of the aircraft parking apron, which will have an area of ??8,000m2 to 15,000m2. I dont understand here if until now there were 8,000 and from now on 150,000 or if it is a margin of use
