Work Detail Havfram Wind and RWE seal contract for Nordseecluster wind project In line with the previously announced preferred supplier agreement on April 13th, 2023, Havfram and RWE have officially signed a contract for the transportation and installation of turbines as part of RWE’s Nordseecluster projects. These projects comprise four wind farm sites in the eastern German North Sea, boasting a combined capacity of up to 1.6 GW. Havfram Wind will take charge of transporting and facilitating the installation of 104 Vestas offshore wind turbines. Each will have a 15-megawatt capacity. These turbines will be deployed in two construction phases, and Havfram Wind’s state-of-the-art Wind Turbine Installation Vessels will be instrumental in both phases. Phase A’s turbine installation is slated to commence in 2026, with offshore construction for Phase B set to start in 2028. The Nordseecluster initiative aims to supply green electricity equivalent to the needs of 1,600,000 German households annually, starting in 2029. Havfram Wind and RWE contract CEO of Havfram Wind, Even Larsen, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “We are very pleased to successfully conclude the negotiations with RWE for the Nordseecluster projects. RWE is an experienced developer, and the trust in Havfram Wind for projects of such scale is proof of our growing position in the market. We will provide the most modern fleet in the industry, operated by highly skilled teams with profound expertise.” Sven Schulemann, RWE’s Managing Director of the Nordseecluster, added, “We want to achieve substantial economies of scale and leverage synergies during the development, construction, and operation of the four wind farms. The Havfram Wind and RWE contract , which encompasses all four projects, attests to the efficiency of concentrating activities such as procurement.” It is important to note that all project deliverables are contingent on final investment decisions for each of the individual phases of Nordseecluster (A and B). Havfram Wind specializes in offshore wind construction services, focusing on transport and installation for both bottom-fixed and floating projects in the offshore wind sector. This Norwegian company is a subsidiary of Havfram, a pure-play offshore wind company that owns and operates Wind Turbine Installation Vessels (‘WTIVs’). Havfram combines deep offshore wind industry knowledge, decades of expertise from the Norwegian energy and marine sectors, and essential experience in harsh offshore environments to offer top-tier services to global customers. Havfram is majority-owned by Sandbrook Capital, a leading climate fund with a mission to combine financial returns and real climate impact, paving the way towards clean energy.
