Work Detail Island Offshore has secured long-term employment with an undisclosed Norwegian contractor for the 2014-built offshore support vessel Island Condor. The contract starts in the autumn of 2024, utilising the unit as a construction vessel equipped with two remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs), an offshore crane, a helideck, and a larger battery pack. The Island Condor has worked as a walk-to-work vessel in the British sector for many years, apart from Norwegian projects in the past year and it will now be converted for its next assignment. The ship’s midsection, including interior fittings, will be extended, and an ROV hangar will be built. The vessel will be converted at Myklebust Yard and delivered in September 2024. “We have good experience in adapting ships to new and attractive segments. The conversion of one of our supply vessels for other activities results from initiative, innovative thinking, and highly skilled employees in the organisation,” said Tommy Walaunet managing director of Island Offshore Management. Island Offshore operates 21 vessels, most well secured with work into 2024. The company is expected to achieve a turnover of NOK2.3bn in 2023, with a total fleet utilisation of around 93% so far this year.
