The Red Circle participated in a select lunch in which they discussed everything from the phenomenal adjustment that the President intends to apply to the upcoming protests.
Former president Mauricio Macri and the owner of Corporación América, Eduardo Eurnekian, held a summit meeting this week with other top businessmen, in which support for Javier Milei was addressed, given the scenario of social conflict that is coming as a result of the fierce fiscal adjustment that will be applied.
The owner of IRSA, Eduardo Elsztain, also participated in the select meeting, very close to Milei and in charge of the concession of the main shopping malls in Argentina, in addition to being the owner of vast hectares of fields and heads of cattle (Cresud), and the Hipotecary Banc.
In the select conclave – revealed this Sunday by Clarín – the diners agreed that there is no alternative but to support the phenomenal adjustment that Milei wants to face, which will be around 5% of the Gross Product, about 25,000 million dollars.
They also supported Mileis decision to seek fiscal balance by the end of 2024, as quickly as possible.
At lunch, Elsztain asked to give the President time and a forecast: “He has a speech for change and he is going to get ahead.”
The protests that will take place this Wednesday in different parts of the country, with the epicenter in downtown Buenos Aires, were also part of the conversations.
The lunch took place on Tuesday at noon, at the mansion of the businessman, collector and writer of art books, Ricardo Esteves, in Palermo Chico, where he exhibits paintings by Berni and Quinquela Martín, but also by Guttero, Nicolás García Uriburu and a refined series by Althabe, one of the artists who opened the way to new languages ??of abstract sculpture in Argentina, teacher of Marta Minujín and Antonio Seguí.
Eurnekian assured that he will work so that the Government does well. The diners paid attention: the businessman of Armenian origin was also at the time the “boss” of the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, employed in one of his many companies.
During lunch, one of the diners told Eurnekian: “You made this president, Eduardo.” And the owner of Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 was sincere: “I never thought that Javier would be who he is today, nor that he would go so far.”
Another of the guests took advantage of Macris presence and launched a second joke: "You share the paternity of Milei: fifty and fifty." Macri found it funny: “Well, Eduardo, if she is fifty-fifty, give me half of the airports you have. I put fifty and I didnt keep anything.”
The founder of the PRO insisted that he had nothing to do with the assembly of the Government. He revealed that he only asked Milei for one thing - that Cristian Ritondo be the president of the Chamber of Deputies - and that his wish was not reciprocated.
He also said that he found out before the elections that Luis Caputo was sounding like Minister of Economy and that one day he called him to ask him if it was possible. Caputo replied no, not at all. The economist argued that his wife, Jimena, also showed a lot of resistance.
Once Milei defeated Massa in the runoff, Caputo had to call Macri and other usual confidants to tell them that he had changed his mind. “My wife now talks about the forces of heaven,” justified the now Minister of Economy.
