Work Detail |
Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment is seeking eligible bidders for the development of 40 solar-powered water supply schemes across various locations in the country.
The invitation follows the launch of an auction in November, which aims to have developers build solar energy-based water supply systems in 40 different locations.
The project is divided into four lots, each involving the supply, installation, and commissioning of 10 photovoltaic (PV) energy packages for water supply schemes in different regions of Uganda.
The application deadline for interested bidders is January 17, 2024. The initiative is supported by $638 million in funding from the World Bank as part of the Ugandan government’s Electricity Access Scale-up Project (EASP), aiming to expand electricity access to households and communities.
As of 2021, only 45.2% of Uganda’s population had access to electricity. At the end of the previous year, Uganda had 94 MW of installed PV capacity, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). |
