Work Detail According to the state-owned Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB), the reconstruction stage has concluded. It is projected that it will begin operations with 20% of its capacity, until reaching 100% next year. The Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia, Franklin Molina, has announced that the Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB) Lithium Carbonate Industrial Plant, located in the Uyuni salt flat, has completed its reconstruction stage and is ready to be inaugurated. According to an official statement, after three years, in the words of Minister Molina, “the civil and mechanical works and the production testing stage of the lithium carbonate industrial plant” have been completed. A paragraph of the information describes the tasks undertaken in these terms: “It was necessary to completely re-evaluate the projects reconstruction and retrofitting process, which involved extensive re-engineering. One of the crucial aspects that had not been taken into account initially was the provision of raw materials to supply the lithium carbonate industrial plant. This setback prompted a comprehensive review, ensuring that all necessary elements were properly considered in the redesign of the project.” It is projected that the plant will begin operations with 20% of its capacity, gradually reaching 100% in 2024. The maximum planned capacity, it is stated, is 15,000 metric tons (MT) of lithium carbonate per year.
