The resurfacing of Provincial Route N°2 is a work that will benefit six Buenos Aires districts and has a budget of 30 billion. The tasks will be carried out along 146 kilometers and include, in addition to the repair of the pavement of both roads and shoulders, the returns or links between them, horizontal signage, the reconstruction of the railings on the bridge over the Samborombón River , in addition to the rehabilitation and lighting of the area.
Hernán Y Zurieta, Highway Administrator of the Province, assured that his area intervenes in two very busy sections during the summer season and that is why from mid-December until the end of the season no work will be carried out on that artery. , "with the purpose of giving fluidity to traffic" and facilitating the circulation of tourism. “Taking into account that we carried out 60 percent of the works, we are going to leave the sections already intervened passable,” he highlighted. And he assured that "it is essential to guarantee that tourists can travel safely and with the peace of mind that the route is in good condition."
Villa Gesell – Mar Chiquita, new highway
With partial financing granted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which exceeds 130 million dollars, this December the construction of the Highway Provincial Route Nº11 will begin. It is a 74.2 kilometer long route that will link the towns of Mar Chiquita and Villa Gesell. The work will be carried out parallel to the current route at a distance of 16 meters and located on the northwest bank.
The new highway will be part of the Atlantic Integrated Road System, a set of routes that will integrate the districts of Mar Chiquita, General Madariaga and Villa Gesell. The works to be carried out include the construction of a second road and the resurfacing of the current road. New paved shoulders will also be built on both roads, 7 bridges over various permanent waterways and 54 culverts. The work also includes the construction of level return systems arranged at an average distance of 3.5 kilometers, to facilitate the circulation of people who live on the highway and who can avoid long journeys to access their homes. The current intersections at the entrances to the towns of Villa Gesell, Mar Azul and Mar de las Pampas will also be remodeled. And a new rotational intersection will be built at the access to the Parque Mar Chiquita Spa.
The Highway Directorate of the Province of Buenos Aires, dependent on the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services, had put out to tender the construction work of the Provincial Highway Nº11 last April. At that time, the ministry assured that it was "a key work that will reduce the number of head-on accidents." During the summer season, the average traffic on this road reaches 7,800 vehicles daily. |
