Work Detail Hapo International Barges’ will reuse the lifting equipment from the Wind Orca and Osprey vessels Cadeler has signed the sale of both cranes of Wind Orca and Wind Osprey to Hapo International Barges. The sales give the cranes a second life destined to perform heavy load lifting for years to come. “The sale is one of those absolute win-win situations for both parties. “As far as we’re informed, this is the first-time cranes from a wind turbine installation vessels are being sold to fulfil a meaningful second life – a solution that is in line with our target to place greater focus on circularity. “We’re very appreciative of Hapo International Barges’ commitment to expand the lifetime for these great cranes that heroically have served Cadeler and the green transition to renewable wind energy,” said Cadeler’s CEO Mikkel Gleerup. The cranes have been in operation aboard Cadeler’s Wind Orca and Wind Osprey for a decade, but are now being removed as both vessels are going through a parallel crane update in Rotterdam to meet the growing demand for transport and installation of next-generation wind turbines. Hapo International Barges is a specialist in providing heavy lift capacity, pontoons and crane barges around the world. The current plan is that the cranes will be retrofitted to shallow water barges and the retrofitting process will take approximately 9-12 months.
