Work Detail Norwegian offshore services player Reach Subsea has signed a long-term charter with fellow shipowner Agalas for a newbuild IMR/survey vessel with delivery in early 2026. The charter is for three or five years with additional options at attractive terms, the Haugesund-based Reach said. The new vessel will be built at the Sefine Shipyard in Turkey and tailored to Reach Subsea’s requirements, and specifications. It will be equipped with an innovative ROV launch and recovery system (LARS) and prepared for the deep-water seabed survey market. The unit will feature dual-fuel gensets and be able to run on either methanol or a combined MGO/battery system delivering approximately 70% or 20% lower CO2 emissions, respectively, compared to those of the existing fleet. “The market for subsea vessels is expected to remain tight for the foreseeable future, and with the innovative Agalas low-emission vessel, we will to an even larger degree be able to leverage the global market and continue our profitable growth. The vessel is well suited for solving complex tasks within the rapidly growing renewables energy sector, oil & gas as well as emerging ultra deep-water seabed surveys for the seabed mineral industry,” said Jostein Alendal, CEO of Reach Subsea. Agalas was formed last year by NSK Ship Design and fishing industry players Ytterstad Fiskeriselskap and Kransvik Kystfiske. The company has two ships on order in Turkey, including a cable layer earmarked for Cecon charter. The new contract with Reach is subject to final approval from SR Bank, Eksfin and Sparebank1 Nord Norge.
