Work Detail In a new weekly update for pv magazine , OPIS, a Dow Jones company, offers a quick look at the main price trends in the global PV industry. Solar cell prices hit a new all-time low this week according to OPIS data, with the price of Mono Perc M10 and G12 cells valued at $0.0603 per W and $0.0645/W FOB China, respectively, which represents a decrease of 0.0056 dollars/W and 0.0058 dollars/W compared to the previous week. The price of M10 TOPCon cells also dropped $0.0031/W week over week to $0.0690/W. Cell prices have fallen for the fourth consecutive week, according to OPIS data. Due to the acute lack of downstream demand, cell manufacturers have engaged in a price war; They have to compete to cut prices to spur demand and increase sales volume, according to one cell maker. The Mono Perc M10 cell, the main product on the market, is trading this week at around 0.489 yuan ($0.067)/W ExW in the Chinese domestic market, according to OPIS market research. This is 27% lower than the price of approximately 0.67 yuan/W at the beginning of the third quarter. According to a polysilicon industry insider, the production cost of Mono Perc M10 cells for Tier 1 manufacturers is about 0.48 yuan/W based on current material prices. At the same time, a Tier 2 cell supplier claims they are losing money on sales of Mono Perc M10 cells priced at 0.5 yuan/W, suggesting their production costs are higher. Additionally, cell producers are focusing on reducing inventory by reducing operating rates, OPIS learned from its market study. The average function rate of cells on the market is currently between 70% and 80%, according to a sales source. Asked what plan they would adopt to address the current slowdown in sales, another cell manufacturer responded that at the moment there is no effective approach and that the run rates of wafer and cell manufacturers are expected to continue to decline in November. OPIS, a Dow Jones company, provides energy prices, news, data and analysis on gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, LPG/LNG, coal, metals and chemicals, as well as renewable fuels and environmental commodities. In 2022 it acquired the pricing data assets of the Singapore Solar Exchange and now publishes the OPIS APAC Solar Weekly Report .
