LG Energy Solution will begin selling its new enblock S batteries in the US market in November.
LG Energy Solutions will launch a new residential energy storage system in the US market in November. enblock S products are stackable, modular lithium-ion batteries designed for easy installation.
The batteries offer the flexibility to stack three, four or five sets of battery modules, each accompanied by a battery control unit. The S 10, the smallest size, consists of three modules with a total of 10.6 kWh. The S 14 includes four sets of battery modules, providing 14.1 kWh, while the largest, the S 17, features five sets of battery modules, providing 17.7 kWh of capacity. The enblock S system also supports the parallel connection of two equal units, allowing a maximum power of 14 kW.
According to LG, customers can increase power capacity based on their consumption patterns by purchasing additional modules. As homeowners continue to electrify their appliances and purchase electric vehicles, flexibility in battery capacity offers a way to meet growing demand.
The company highlighted the simple installation process of the batteries, which have a plug-and-play connector without the need to tighten screws. A single installer can perform an enblock S installation in as little as 15 minutes. The batteries can be installed either on the wall or free-standing and are suitable for both indoors and outdoors.
The company says the batteries meet strict safety standards to prevent thermal runaway fires, a problem posed by some lithium-ion household batteries, and have successfully passed UL9540A testing.
Later this year, LG will introduce the enblock S+ variant, which allows customers to purchase enblock S batteries along with the companys new AC coupled inverter as an integrated solution. This coupled option is available in two configurations: standby power and energy arbitration, and can be retrofitted into an existing PV system.
Battery owners can also use the LG Energy Solution Monitor app to track real-time energy consumption and production.
