The solar energy company IM2 is implementing a project that involves nearly 1,400,000 bees in one of its parks, located in Colbún.
The multinational company IM2 Solar, based in Valencia, Spain, has announced an environmental preservation project that involves the incorporation of a photovoltaic hive in its park located in Colbún, in the Chilean region of Maule.
In a statement, it is explained that this initiative is part of “agrovoltaic exploration, it consists of combining the sustainable use of land and the protection of biodiversity where solar plants are located.”
On this occasion, IM2 describes having worked together with a society of beekeepers, and that “after carrying out exhaustive studies on the conditions necessary for its realization; those that determined the suitability of both the plant layout and the geographical location.”
This is the park located in Colbún VII region, which “has recently received 20 bee hives”, which is claimed to be close to 1,400,000 specimens “that are destined to grow and develop in these facilities to contribute to pollination.” of their environment.”
“Bees play a transcendental role for the life of the planet,” it is added, “and their preservation does not always occupy the priority it requires; "These are responsible for 70% of the pollination of all plant species, which translates into guaranteeing about 35% of global food production."
It is expected that this pilot plan will be consolidated by the end of the year "with a total of 60 centers implemented in the plant, and by 2024 there will be five new parks that incorporate bee stations in their facilities."
