With a capacity of 1 MW and a budget of almost one million dollars, the project was installed in the mining unit of the AB Areias Group, in Roseira, state of São Paulo.
Brazil has just put into operation the first floating solar plant in Latin America, installed in an exhausted mining pit. Budgeted at around 5 million reais (990 thousand dollars), the unprecedented project was executed by F2B, a Brazilian company specialized in photovoltaic generation projects in water bodies, in the mining unit of the AB Areias Group, in the municipality of Roseira, in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
The plant, which came into operation in October, has a capacity of 1 MW and will meet the total electricity demand of the mining companys unit in the municipality, reducing electricity costs and expanding the companys sustainability programs.
The plant occupies an area of ??8,000 square meters, with 1,852,000 solar panels installed on floats. The mining pit that will house the project has a total area of ??200,000 square meters. According to Orestes Gonçalves, managing partner of F2B, the technology used in the project allows for quick installation, safe maintenance and supports a weight of up to 350 kilos per square meter, in addition to having the option of placing the inverters and the transformer on the island. floating, with lower wiring costs and greater energy production.
F2B floating solar plant products, which are manufactured in Brazil, use high-density resin with ultraviolet treatment and high-quality aluminum for a service life of about 30 years.
F2Bs floating solar technology, the result of the association with NGR Island, an Italian company of reference in floating technology for photovoltaic solar plants in the world market, is the only one that can have all the equipment of a solar plant on the floating island, including the NRG floating platform transformer developed for this purpose, which provides a significant reduction in energy loss and a reduction in expenditure on DC cables.
“With the success of the association with the AB Areias Group, a market reference in the extraction of aggregates for construction, the perspective now is to replicate the Roseira project in the other units of the group that operate in other municipalities of the Paraíba Valley ( São Paulo)”, he adds. The float technology used in the project is of Italian origin and is manufactured in Brazil by F2B itself. The current manufacturing capacity in Brazil is 80 MW per year in floats, and by next year 2024 it will be 300 MW, with a growth of 40% annually.
“With manufacturing in Brazil, our intention is to offer customers the possibility of very attractive lines of credit, like Finame, for example. The companys expectation in this area is to achieve a turnover of tens of millions with the entry of nearly 200 megawatts in the next 12 months,” concludes the executive. |
