Birla Carbon has acquired Belgium-based Nanocyl to expand its presence in the energy systems market. The acquisition will elevate its position, in a material crucial for the performance of lithium-ion batteries and other conductive applications.
Nanocyl is one of the leading manufacturers of industrial multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), and addresses current challenges of the energy, transport, and electronic markets. Carbon nanotubes with their unique performance characteristics assist in a wide range of applications.
With this acquisition, Birla Carbon will add Nanocyl’s MWCNTs to its existing portfolio of Conductex family of conductive carbon black additives and active anode materials. It will help to harness the potential of these materials across many end uses.
The company, one of the flagship businesses of the Aditya Birla Group, is looking to pursue innovation opportunities to fulfill its multi-pronged sustainability agenda. It currently operates across 12 countries, with 16 manufacturing facilities and two technology centres in Marietta in the US and Taloja in India. |
