German multinational conglomerate, Siemens plans to establish a hub for mass transit and urban transport solutions in India, as it looks to advance component and locomotive manufacturing in India.
The firm also has a site where it develops infrastructure solutions, and sees opportunity in this area, as it seeks to leverage the countrys rail transit market.
This move comes after Siemens signed a contract, valued at Rs 26,000 crore with Indian Railways recently. The company will be responsible for supplying and servicing electric locomotives for freight movement, marking the single largest order for Siemens Mobility in India.
Last year, Siemens launched the Siemens Xcelerator programme, an open digital business platform and India will be a key region in its rollout. It has reference cases across multiple industries such as food & beverages, data centers, commercial buildings, and power utilities.
The company has a multi-local strategy, wherein it build products for the global market and localises as per regional requirements. |
