Deputy Ministers of Water and Sanitation in South Africa, and Rand Water Board Chairperson, Ramateu Monyokolo, recently interacted with the political leaders and the councillors of City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and the City of Tshwane on ways to resolve water supply issues in the municipalities. This was on 27 September 2023, day two of the sites visit by the Ministry of Water and Sanitation to assess areas affected by water shortages in the three metros, including the City of Johannesburg. Recent water supply challenges within some municipalities in the Gauteng province prompted Minister Senzo Mchunu, together with Deputy Ministers David Mahlobo and Judith Tshabalala to embark on a two-day fact-finding mission on 26-27 September 2023 to the three metros most affected municipalities with water shortages. The main purpose of the visits was to establish the problems and the plans that the municipalities have to remedy the situation. |
