DP World has launched a 3,80,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Bhiwandi, Thane district of Maharashtra. The facility has commenced operations effective 01 September, 2023, is fully compliant for the storage and handling of chemicals as well as non-chemical products for its customers.
The warehouse is divided into two sections, with one designed for hazardous chemical storage, complete with G+8 level racking and very early smoke detection apparatus (VESDA) across 1,90,000 sq. ft. area. This adaptable section offers a capacity of 20,000 pallet positions for the normal temperature zone, along with an additional 1,000 pallet positions for the 20 to 25-degree temperature-controlled area, with the provision to expand further.
The second section, spread over 1,50,000 sq. ft., is dedicated to non-chemical storage. Additionally, the warehouse includes a 40,000 sq. ft. separate area featuring two distinct cold storage rooms. With this, DP World’s warehousing capability has gone up to more than five million sq. ft. of warehousing space Pan-India.
Moreover, the facility incorporates comprehensive safety features throughout the premises, including a Chill temperature-controlled area, maintained at 20° to 25°C, for pharma, food reagents and others.
Other components include fireproof partitions, firewater system, a spill containment pit, and Rockwool insulation on the roof. Further, the facility utilizes high-volume low-speed fans (HVLS) for efficient air circulation, and is equipped with a solar-powered system. Apart from the two-sided docking system, it also features an extended canopy area of over five mtrs., ensuring smooth loading and unloading of vehicles across all seasons. |
