Work Detail 148km 275kV export wires with XLPE insulation will be produced for 1.5GW offshore wind farm Hellenic Cables has been awarded the contract to supply export cables for the 1500MW Baltica 2 offshore wind project in Poland. Under the contract, the company will be responsible for the supply of 148km 275kV export cables with XLPE insulation to the JV between Orsted and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. The scope will also encompass jointing, termination and testing works, which are integral to the project’s success. The site is in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, stretching between Leba and Ustka. Production of the submarine cables is set to commence in 2026, with the final products anticipated for delivery within the first half of 2027, according to the project’s delivery plan. The wires will be manufactured at Hellenic Cables vertically integrated state-of-the-art facility in Corinth, Greece. Hellenic Cables general manager Kostas Savvakis said: "We are honoured to have been selected to provide our cables and services to the Baltica 2 project, furthering our commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. "Our expertise in submarine cable manufacturing, jointing, as well as termination and testing, will play a pivotal role in this offshore wind project.
