The Zuluf Development Project made an announcement stating it has awarded its contract for Specialist Camera Stations. UK-based company, Synectics confirmed that it will supply specialist solutions to the development.
The project’s contract was awarded by an offshore engineering and fabrication group, the National Petroleum Construction Company. The firm’s Head of Oil & Gas at Synectics said that the win serves as a reflection of its legacy as well as outstanding reputation. Darren Alder further highlighted that the company assures commitment to timely delivery.
According to reports, the project will make use of Synectics’ latest generation COEX C3000 TriMode camera solutions. In a nutshell, it is said to provide surveillance that will cover critical locations on the platforms. This, in turn, will enable the development to monitor process activities. Additionally, it will contribute towards added protection for Saudi Aramco’s assets and employees.
Zuluf Development Project’s Location
The Zuluf Development Project’s location is about 240 kilometers, right along the northern region of Dhahran. Its ownership and operation are under the Saudi state-owned company, Saudi Aramco. Back in 1965, the shallow water oil field was discovered. Thereafter, it was built in 1983, however, due to low demand for Arabian medium crude oil, it shut down in 1995. Nevertheless, Saudi Aramco, restarted the plant in 2016, with the repairing of the GOSP-3. Reports reveal that the development boasts a 250,000 barrels of oil processing capacity. Alongside, 100 million metric standard cubic feet (Mmscf) of gas processing, daily.
Quite impressively, the camera solutions that will be incorporated on-site have been designed to withstand hazardous applications. Furthermore, the surveillance system can operate in temperatures of well up to 70°C. Taking it a step further, the camera stations will include encoding technology alongside the latest thermal imaging. As a result, the development will receive clear visual feedback, through various lighting conditions. |
