Two Colombian public service companies, Surtigas and Aguas de Cartagena, have agreed a construction, operation and maintenance contract for the second phase of the 5.3 MWp Canal del Dique photovoltaic park. A contract for the construction, operation and maintenance of the second phase of the Canal del Dique solar park, of 5.3 MWp, and intended for the electrical consumption of raw water pumping stations, has been announced between the Colombian public service companies, Surtigas and Aguas de Cartagena. As explained in a statement, this second phase will generate around 9,800,000 kWh per year for the Dolores and Piedrecitas pumping stations, belonging to Aguas de Cartagena, and which will cover approximately 26% of electrical needs. According to the general manager of Surtigas, Santiago Mejía, the new plant will avoid “the emission of approximately 5,000 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.” |
