Photo: Florence Jump. Yesterday afternoon it was revealed that the construction company Luciano SA suspended the work on Route 151 from Cipolletti to Catriel, and fired 10 UOCRA workers. The workers were carrying out tasks in the road work on Route 151. Today the company assured that the dismissals are due to unforeseen events that arose during the execution of the work in the section that begins in Cipolletti. The company indicated that “they requested a study to modify the project from Vialidad Nacional because they are looking for an improvement in the contracted project. The modification is due to the fact that the state of the route is not the same as when the study on the asphalt strip was carried out. Years have passed and currently the deterioration of the route is advanced, therefore, it was decided to suspend the work for a couple of months until the National Highway defines those details. As explained by the company, National Highway is evaluating the modification of the work contract to solve the greater number of potholes that Route 151 has today and to be able to finish the work, but at the moment nothing is defined. From the contractor, Luciano SA, they assured that the dismissal of the 10 workers of the Unión Obrera de la Construcción de la Republica Argentina (Uocra) from the Río Negro section will be until the work can be resumed. “It is not intended to fire people, but we are going to be unemployed for a couple of months and the company is not going to receive a lot of money. When the work is resumed and there is something more defined, the workers will be the first to be called to join the work”, they assured. For years the citizens waited for the repairs on Route 151. They denounced that the route is destroyed: potholes, uneven shoulders and undulations abound in various sectors of the road. Faced with these complaints, in February the arrangements began from the entrance to Cipolletti to Cinco Saltos. As announced that time, then the work would be mobilized towards kilometer 109. The arrangements included the maintenance of the shoulders, patching, asphalt layer, texturing and milling. The deadline for rebuilding the road was 12 months. For months the improvement works were carried out, in some sections they scraped the route to re-pave, but today that was abandoned until they resume the work. Route 151 work: What National Highway said Martín Izaguirre, the head of the Río Negro District of National Highway, assured that the conflict with the contractor company is very recent. He explained that the company has a current contract with an established term, but asked to neutralize the work for different reasons. “From Vialidad the situation is being evaluated, we want to do the work, but we must evaluate and see how to continue. They will try to make the best possible decision so that the work is not harmed, ”he said. In addition, he referred to the dismissals of UOCRA workers and assured that they were by decision of the contractor company. At the moment there are no details about what the project is and what will happen to Route 151.
