Work Detail The South Korean company SDN has developed new bifacial solar modules based on M10 wafers. The new products feature a power conversion efficiency of 21.46% and are, according to the manufacturer, the most efficient floating photovoltaic panels in the world. SDN, a South Korean provider of photovoltaic modules and marine propulsion systems, has introduced a new line of bifacial glass modules for applications in floating photovoltaic projects. The new SunDay 10+ Wave modules incorporate 144 half-cut monocrystalline cells based on M1o wafers and busbar technology. SDN claims that they are currently the most efficient solar modules in the world for floating photovoltaics. The manufacturer offers three versions of the panels, with power ratings from 590 W to 600 W, and power conversion efficiencies ranging from 21.11% to 21.46%. The open circuit voltage ranges between 53.79 V and 54.11 V and the short circuit current between 13.92 A and 14.05 A. The panels measure 2,465mm x 1,134mm x 35mm and weigh 35.9kg. They are built with 2mm tempered anti-reflective glass and aluminum alloy frames. They also feature an IP68 enclosure and a maximum system voltage of 1,500V. The panels have a temperature coefficient of -0.40% per degree Celsius and an operating temperature ranging from -40ºC to 85ºC. New products have a 12-year warranty and a 30-year performance guarantee. The degradation in the first year is supposed to be 2.0% and the power output at 30 years is guaranteed to be no less than 83.5% of the rated power output. SDN has a panel factory in Gwangju (South Korea). It also plans to build a 1 GW manufacturing plant in Gwangju that will produce solar panels based on tunnel oxide passivated contacts (TOPCon) technology, as well as modules with an unspecified tandem technology. The company operates in the segment of distributed photovoltaic generation and the development of large-scale solar projects. He has built solar panels in Bulgaria, Japan and South Korea. Its shipbuilding division also supplies outboard motors for fishing and pleasure boats.
