Work Detail Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia led the ground-breaking ceremony for the commencement of construction on a cutting-edge 100-bed district hospital in the Ejura Sekyeredumase District of the Ashanti Region. The Government’s flagship Agenda 111 Projects initiative considers the project a significant component, and it anticipates that completing it within 18 months will greatly enhance healthcare in the area, with a total cost of $16 million. The authorities plan to equip the state-of-the-art hospital with top-tier facilities, including X-Rays, Medical Gases, Haematology Analyser, Chemistry Analyser, CT Scanner, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, and a Microbiology Analyser. Furthermore, they will make accommodation provisions available for the medical staff to ensure optimal service delivery. What is the Agenda 111 initiative The Agenda 111 initiative aims to build 111 hospitals of various capacities across the country. Currently there are 88 hospitals under construction thereby ensuring that each district has a hospital within reach of a higher-level facility. He noted that this ambitious project represents the most significant investment in hospital infrastructure since Ghana’s independence. The Government also plans to construct six new regional hospitals to accommodate the growth in new regions and upgrade the Efia Nkwanta hospital in the Western Region. Additionally, two new Psychiatric hospitals in Kumasi and Tamale are being established. Dr. Bawumia highlighted other healthcare initiatives the Government has undertaken, such as the nationwide provision of ambulances under the One Constituency One Ambulance program, the networking of hospitals for improved access to medical histories, the introduction of the drone medical delivery system, and the E-Pharmacy scheme. The Vice President reiterated the Government’s commitment to continuously improve healthcare delivery and systems, recognizing the pivotal role that a healthy population plays in national development. The Chief of Ejura, Barima Osei Hwedie II, expressed profound gratitude to the Government for the hospital project and commended the Vice President for his instrumental efforts in fostering development in Ejura and its surroundings over the past six and a half years. He urged his fellow citizens to wholeheartedly support and participate in national development projects for the greater good of the nation. The Ejura Sekyeredumase District’s upcoming hospital stands as a symbol of progress and a testament to the transformative power of investment in healthcare infrastructure.
