Work Detail Construction will soon commence on a two building South Air Depot campus for Pratt & Whitney, a major aerospace manufacturer in Oklahoma. The company selected Seefried Industrial Properties and Truist Securities to develop the project, which will add a 842,043-square-foot warehousing space. Upon completion, the South Air Depot campus will expand the aerospace manufacturer’s current sustainment capacity in Oklahoma City. In addition, the new facility will also consolidate the six existing sites owned by Pratt & Whitney into two locations. These new locations will be Pratt & Whitney’s new Oklahoma City facility and Tinker Air Force Base’s Air Logistics Complex. Timeline for the South Air Depot campus The South Air Depot campus development will take place at an 85-acre site located on South Air Depot Boulevard. The developers expect the project to reach completion by the second quarter of 2024. Besides the warehouse space, the property will feature a two-story, 86,000 square foot, state-of-the-art office building. There are also future development plans to include an adjacent Training Facility, spanning 100,000 square feet. The developers will incorporate several modern specifications into the warehouse facility at the South Air Depot campus. The building will include amenities such as tilt-up construction, 40-foot clear heights, concrete truck courts and 120 potential dock-high doors. Additionally, it offers 515 auto parking stalls, along with EV charging spots, and 103 trailer spaces. According to the developers, the design and layout of the property will provide efficient ingress and egress to Interstate Highway 240. The development team working on the campus includes Layton Construction as the general contractor. While Pross Design Group, Inc. will be the project’s architect of record and Olsson Engineering will handle the civil engineering. Seefried’s Development Manager, Jaymie Bullard, said his company was proud to be selected to build Pratt & Whitney’s new home. He mentioned that the new South Air Depot campus would house the company’s 500 Oklahoma City based employees. Furthermore, Bullard also said this would be the third Oklahoma City project his company is building together with Truist Securities.
