The Yobe State government has committed to investing more than N5 billion in the construction of roads that will connect these water-locked communities and spur their long-awaited socio-economic development. The communities of Karasuwa-Galu and Masaba in Yobe State have endured over five decades without motorable roads, but they are finally set to witness transformative change.
The community of Karasuwa-Galu, Nigeria, has been seeking an extension of the Gashua-Nguru federal road project since 1973, yet their pleas remained unanswered, leaving them isolated from accessible roadways. In previous administrations, the ancient village of Masaba persistently sought the construction of a road that would link them with neighboring communities, but they experienced disappointment, as their efforts were met with no viable road network.
However, a new dawn has arrived for these communities, as Governor Mai Mala Buni personally presided over the groundbreaking ceremonies for the two crucial projects, totaling approximately 30 kilometers. Assuring the communities of his administration’s unwavering commitment to their welfare, Governor Buni pledged to construct these roads, which will open up opportunities for socio-economic progress in the long-neglected regions.
Governor Buni left no room for compromise when he directed the contractors to execute the projects meticulously, adhering strictly to contractual specifications to ensure that the government gets value for its investment. Additionally, he urged the state Ministry of Works to exercise efficient and effective supervision throughout the project duration, guaranteeing the delivery of high-quality infrastructure that will benefit the communities for generations to come.
