Work Detail Construction work has begun on railroad barrier wall in San Clemente, California. The wall will protect the trains from rocks and debris caused by the landslides. The construction project is taking place due to the ongoing blockage of passenger train operations between San Diego and Orange counties. The objective is to ensure the safety of the trains while stabilizing the slope near the Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens. To address the situation, the Metrolink Board of Directors has contracted Condon-Johnson & Associates Inc. A geotechnical company, for the design and construction of a temporary wall north of the San Clemente Pier. This wall, measuring approximately 250 to 300 feet in length and 12 to 15 feet in height, will protect it while work progresses. Scott Johnson, Metrolink’s director of communications, emphasized that they do not have an exact timeline for completing the wall and restoring passenger rail service. The team is working diligently to ensure a swift and safe process while navigating the challenges posed by the work site.
