Work Detail The Spanish company has been awarded the second phase of a hybrid project of photovoltaic solar energy and energy storage with batteries, and obtains financing from the IDB for another two; all in Honduras. The Spanish company Solartia has been awarded in the second phase of a tender to expand a hybrid solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage project in Honduras. During the month of April, the Government of South Korea carried out an international tender —with financing through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy [MOTIE] and executed by the Korean Institute for Technological Advancement [KIAT]—, open to Central American, European and Korean companies, for the execution of a hybrid energy project on the island of Guanaja, which together with Roatán and Utila make up the archipelago of the Bay Islands of Honduras, in which Solartia was the winner. In 2022, Solartia already won the award from the Inter-American Development Bank [IDB] of a facility on the same island with an installed capacity of 0.6 MWp and storage of 0.7 MW. This expansion adds 6.34 MWp and 2.32 MW of storage to the initial installation. In addition, the company is currently building two hybrid microgrids totaling 1 MWp of solar energy, 2.19 MWh of energy storage and 1,950 kVA in backup generators also in Honduras. This project is financed by the IDB and Solartia was the winner of the call.
