Municipal called a new public tender to complete the works of the Camet Sports Center, after the three attempts made in August 2022 and January 2023, in which no bidders appeared. To now attract construction companies, the Commune updated the January budget by 50%, with an investment that amounts to $332 million.
The opening of envelopes for Tender No. 15/23 was set for May 31, according to Decree 839/23 released this Friday through the Official Gazette. The Bidding Terms and Conditions is the same that the Ministry of Works designed for previous tenders, with the only change in the official budget, which this time is $332,009,496. That figure represents 50% more than the $220 million budget for the January tender and 172% more than the two carried out in August.

After the last tender in January, the government had shown confidence in achieving the participation of companies in the second call, given that some of them they had withdrawn the sheets and were designing the presentation. They had even submitted a request for an extension around the time, which was not granted by the Commune given that current regulations require a prior period of at least 96 business hours.
According to what was detailed from the Municipal Palace, the request was due, among other factors, to the problems that the construction companies had to be able to conclude with the design of the budget, having problems with the receipt of the budgets from their respective suppliers, to because of the summer break.
Finally, the Ministry of Works chose not to call a second call with the same budget and instead started a new file, which allowed it to update the budget.
The works for the opening of the Sports Center
The package of interventions consists of the enhancement and completion of all the works necessary for the commissioning of the Natatorium, Barrio Camet Park Sports and Cultural Center, located on Mahatma Gandhi street, on the northwest edge of Camet Park. The official calculation is that the works would require a total of 300 days.
The first stage of the works will focus on dismantling all the elements that are deteriorated: plaster rock ceilings, removable plates, wooden floors found in the sports area, shower floors to improve slopes. and opening of openings to install security doors that will function as emergency exits.

Then, progress will be made with all the necessary repairs to prevent leaks on both flat and zinc sheet roofs to prevent ingress of rainwater into the building. Missing carpentry, marble countertops, glass and mirrors will also be installed and railings will be installed on the pool ramp and in the machine room. The works plan includes, in turn, paint jobs on walls and ceilings both inside and outside the building. Official sources indicated that new bars (anti-vandalism) will be included and all existing bars will be dismantled to apply the corresponding anticorrosive treatment and paint finish to each one.
