Summary of the project
The objective of the project is to optimize the drinking water supply service for the cities of San Miguel de Tucumán, Tafí Viejo and Villa Carmela. It proposes an improvement in the existing infrastructure to satisfy the currently unsatisfied needs for the production of drinking water, anticipating the demographic growth of said localities.
The Project consists of a hydraulic infrastructure work and is part of the Program for Management of Water Resources and Aqueducts in the Provinces of Argentina AR-L1346 (First Operation Under the CCLIP) financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The projected work will improve the capacity of collection, treatment, conduction and regulation of drinking water, defining a new system of works necessary to replace and complement the existing infrastructure.
The execution of the Project involves two main stages:
Construction: the extension of the projected Work is 24 months.
Operation and Maintenance: the design horizon is 20 years, this being a hydraulic parameter, but it is anticipated that the asset will have to provide service for many more years.
The selected scheme of works is as follows:
Catchment work made up of a mixed catchment system (Grate intake and Drains)
Purification plant through conventional treatment to be located near the catchment work.
GRP aqueduct of variable diameter, with two loading chambers and gravity diversion along its route.
Reserves in Tafí Viejo, in the western area of ??SM de Tucumán, Tapia and Villa Carmela.
