With the final stages having been already completed at the beginning of 2023, the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal Project has officially opened. The project also offers passengers safer car and passenger ferry service between Queenscliff in Melbounre’s Port Philip Bay and Sorrento.
Under the Geelong City Deal, the project’s redevelopment was a result of joint funding. Thus, the Federal Government contributed a total of $10 million. On the other side, Searoad Ferries contributed to the balance of project costs. Its design was by F2 Architecture, while Kane Construction was responsible for its development.

The project’s completion brought about a brand new public boardwalk and gantry, providing a safer route. Furthermore, it delivered an upper level of the terminal building and other outdoor elements. While commenting on the project during its formal opening, Federal Member of Corio said the project’s completion marks a great win for Greater Geelong. Richard Marles further added that the terminal will open up another gateway into the beautiful city of Geelong as well as its surrounding. In attendance was also Libby Coker, joined Federal Member for Corangamite. Alongside, Alison Marchant, Member for Bellarine, representing the Victorian Minister for Regional Development, Harriet Shing. Conclusively, Mr. Marles noted that the brand-new, modern terminal will double up as a great addition to local tourism and business. As a result of the thousands of passengers that Searoad Ferries will bring.
As a whole, the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal Project places great priority on safer access, retail space, and improved car parking. Moreover, the terminal building and site feature modern facilities as well as bathrooms, and function rooms.
