Operation was carried out by DEME vessel Gulliver off the coast of Normandy
The substation topside has now been installed at EDF Renewables 450MW Calvados Offshore Wind Farm in Normandy, France.
The operation was carried out by DEMEs installation vessel Gulliver more than 10km off the coast of Nacre and Bessin.
Designed and manufactured in Saint-Nazaire by Atlantique Offshore Energy of Chantiers de lAtlantique, the electrical substation is the nerve centre of the parks electrical system.
Weighing 2,100 tonnes and 41 metres long, 29 metres wide and 17 metres high, it will centralise the electricity produced by the 64 wind turbines and send it ashore to the substation located in Ranville.
This marks the latest milestone for the offshore wind farm, following the installation of the four underwater piles carried out in spring 2022 and the jacket foundation on 18 March, 2023. |
