The project was prepared by personnel from the Museum and the Planning Area of ??the University between the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022. The act of signing the Agreement took place at the Museum on March 4 and included an extensive tour of the facilities, especially the sectors that need intervention. The officials were received by their Director, Dr. Analía Lanteri, the Vice Director, Dr. Marta Fernández, and Dr. Eduardo Kruse. The national deputy for the province of Buenos Aires, Victoria Tolosa Paz, who was personally involved in managing the funds, the president of Corredores Viales, Gonzalo Atanasoff, and several provincial legislators and municipal councilors also participated. The sectors to intervene include the architectural envelope, the ceilings, roofs and skylights, the repair of all the carpentry, the recovery of the rear façade and the space for the cafeteria, among others. The Museum of La Plata is one of the most emblematic institutions of the city. The construction of the building began in 1884, two years after the founding of La Plata, and it was inaugurated on November 19, 1888. It has a total area of ??approximately 16,000 m2 distributed over five main floors. It was recognized as a National Historic Monument and its conservation requires planning and carrying out interventions and restoration practices on a regular basis, which are adequate and compatible with the heritage protection laws. The building houses some 400 researchers and scholarship holders as well as UNLP technical, administrative and security personnel. It preserves materials from various collections of natural and anthropological sciences, develops scientific, educational and cultural outreach activities for the general public. "This plan of investment works in improvements and conservation of the building, said Lanteri, will allow the Museum to continue fulfilling the commitment in favor of science, education and culture."
