Work Detail Japans Sharp says its new 228W solar modules are 20% efficient. Sharp has launched its new NU-228AP solar modules for applications in buildings with small roofs. The Japanese electronics maker said the monocrystalline module weighs 13 kg and measures 1,146 mm × 996 mm × 38.5 mm. He stated that it can be easily installed in a vertical or horizontal position, depending on the configuration of the roof. According to the company, the new product has a power of 228 W and a conversion efficiency of 20.0%. The open circuit voltage is 20.84 V and the short circuit current is 14.03 A. Sharp currently sells the panel in Japan for 143,000 yen ($1,040) and offers a 15-year product warranty and a 20-year performance guarantee. It is guaranteed that the output power for 20 years will not be less than 80% of the rated output power. In May, Sharp launched monocrystalline modules for the Japanese market that are supposedly suitable for pitched roofs with large installation surfaces and different roofing materials. According to the company, the new panels can be installed on slate roofs, horizontal metal roofs and metal tile roofs.
