Mayor Juan Pablo Luque led the opening of envelopes corresponding to the tasks of coastal containment and paving of the important artery that connects Km. 3 with Km. 4 along the coastal sector, which will significantly alleviate Route No. 3 in the north. “We are going to continue complying with what we promised and advancing with emblematic works”, he remarked.
The event was attended by Vice Mayor Othar Macharashvili; the Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works, Maximiliano López; the councilor and local referent of UOCRA Ariel Montenegro; and the president of the 25 de Mayo Neighborhood Association, Fabiana Ramos; in addition to members of the municipal cabinet, councilors, neighborhood members and neighbors.
Within this framework, the first stage of the paving of the ARA San Juan road was tendered, which is part of the road improvement plan that has been carried out since the current municipal management and is of vital importance to alleviate vehicular traffic in a key sector of National Route No. 3. The budget for the work amounts to $241,269,547 and its execution period is 180 calendar days.
In this regard, the mayor stated that “this road allows the union between the north and the south of Comodoro Rivadavia, therefore it impacts all the neighbors. This work is one more example that we have been working to strictly comply with the pledged word and with the commitments that we were assuming. We told the community what we were going to do and we are complying with real and concrete facts”.
“We said that we were going to plan and rethink the city in many aspects, from putting it facing the sea to improving the diversification of the vacant places that Comodoro had so that it does not continue to grow in an uncontrollable and unmanageable way, especially in terms of public work. This path has a lot to do with what we can take care of ourselves with respect to the emblematic problems we have, ”he stressed.
Along these lines, he affirmed that “we all know the problems that Route 3 has, that today we are suffering more than ever with the inconvenience on the Chenque hill, which is the absolute authority of the National Highway Administration. We must seek a definitive solution so that our city has optimal communication between north and south, not only for Comodorans, but for all those who pass through to Santa Cruz or Tierra del Fuego, but also to the north, and this road has in order to decontract the great traffic problem that this section of Route 3 has ”.
In the same way, the local president explained that "many did not believe that we have a real tourism project, but we are working and investing many resources to achieve a Commodore that we all enjoy and that those who visit us have options for transit and recreation, with the beauties of our Patagonian coast but also conserving our roots and putting them in value”.
“Our intention is to continue complying with what we promised, advancing with more emblematic works, such as the City Park, whose project we presented yesterday in the Mosconi neighborhood and we are working to make it a reality and fulfill the pledged word. From our management we want to recover confidence towards the political leadership ”, he asserted.
Continuing in this vein, he stressed that “we have no other function than to try to improve the quality of life of our people in a short period of four years, in a city with a wonderful history in which we do not want to go unnoticed. We want to contribute our grain of sand to achieve living as we Comodorans, Chubutans and Patagonians deserve”.
“The best we know how to do is work, but we would like to do a lot more of what we are doing and solve more problems. We put effort and all the love we have for Comodoro; but the residents and the neighbors motivate us even more to achieve the objectives that we set for ourselves, ”he said.
Finally, Luque thanked "the workers, the councilors and the municipal team", while emphasizing that "we are committed to public works and job creation, seeking to strengthen the economic movement and finding solutions so that Comodoro is one of the best cities to live.
Fundamental work to improve vehicular circulation
Meanwhile, the head of the Public Works portfolio, Maximiliano López, pointed out that "as soon as we started the management, the mayor was the first to say that this road had to be opened because it decompressed traffic on Route 3, so that we quickly got to work with road machinery of the Municipality for the restitution of the road that today is increasingly consolidated”.
"We are putting the coastal road to face the sea, with sidewalks, lighting, accessibility and a protection wall practically along the entire length of the road to later build a slope on the base to later place concrete cords, protection railings and , later, the folder ”, he explained.
To close, López explained that “we divided the work into two stages for reasons of time, optimizing the municipal budget. In this first stage, of six months, the protection wall, the filling and the slope will be made; while in the second it will culminate with the ditch cordons and the complete paving to join from the roundabout of the University to the Alvear Hospital. It is an effort by all the people of Comodoro to continue putting Comodoro facing the sea and to significantly improve passability”.
"All works generate employment and improve the city"
For his part, the councilor and representative of the UOCRA, Ariel Montenegro, appreciated that "all works, whether large or small, generate and maintain labor in the construction sector, for which we are very grateful for each tender that is carried forward."
Likewise, Montenegro indicated that "we must weigh those companies that continue to appear in each bidding act and accompany the Municipality to continue improving the city and sustain employment."

Finally, the president of the Neighborhood 25 de Mayo, Fabiana Ramos, stated that "I am very excited because I was born and raised in the neighborhood, so we enjoy the coastal path with my family and many children, who today are already parents and grandparents. Seeing these advances fills me with emotion”.
Along these lines, he stressed that “it is a very important work, because it is a road that is used by many people from the north and south and is in a tourist sector, where you can spend a beautiful day at the beach. If everything ends as we dreamed, the 25 de Mayo neighborhood will be part of Comodoros tourism”.
“We always highlight the joint work between the Neighborhood, municipal officials and Mayor Luque. During the last storm, which was complicated, we were not isolated thanks to the cleaning of the evacuation channel, which had been covered for more than 20 years, which allowed us to avoid major inconveniences in our neighborhood. As a neighbor, I am very grateful to the management," concluded Ramos.
