Within the framework of the Plan for the Transformation of the Energy Matrix of the Dairy Sector, Dominican President Luis Abinader handed out checks to 13 ranchers associations and cooperatives of agricultural producers. In this way, the first stage is completed by which 30 dairy collection centers will be able to switch from consuming conventional electricity to photovoltaic energy.
The total amount delivered is located at more than 240 thousand dollars, with which the selected associations and cooperatives will be able to implement solar electricity generation systems that, in turn, will allow them -according to what is assured- to reduce the energy cost by less than half. of different operations, among them, the cooling of the milk.
The Plan for the Transformation of the Energy Matrix of the Dairy Sector was presented in June of last year, and plans to cover 100 of the 164 collection centers for dairy products throughout the Dominican territory, for an approximate total investment of 3.5 million of dollars.
“By directly benefiting these 100 associations, we not only benefit the member ranchers, but we also benefit tens of thousands of workers from those ranchers and the 100 communities, but we also benefit Dominican consumers who will be able to count on a supply quality dairy products at fair prices”, highlighted the director of the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), Hecmilio Galván.
Three of the 30 dairy collection centers of the first stage already have photovoltaic systems in operation. There are also three non-livestock projects that have joined the government proposal: a rice factory, a La Vega vegetable packing plant (Asoprovego) and the Nuestra Señora de América Latina y San José Carmelite Monastery.
Among the associations benefited on this occasion are the Jarabacoa Meat and Milk Producers (Asoprocalja); the Vegan of Producers of Milk and Meat (Aveproleca); from Eastern Milk Ranchers (Asogaleeste); of Azua Ranchers (AGA); of Milk Producers of Las Cuchillas of the Province of Seibo, Inc. (Asoprolecu); the Cooperativa Agropecuaria y Servicios Múltiples de la Sierra, Inc. (Coopasmulsi) and the Association of Producers of Oriental Vegetables (Asorovego).
Also the Association of Ranchers del Toro; of Winners of Pajonal (Agapanal); of Ranchers of Barahona (Agaba); the Federation of Rice Growers of the East; the Cooperative of the Association of Cattlemen of Elido Bretón; of Lamb Ranchers (Agaco); of Cattlemen of Carbonera (Agaca); of Ranchers of Sabana de la Mar (Asogasamar); of Ranchers Los Conucos, Montecristi (Prolecac); of Ranchers Los Almácigos (Asogai); and the Mare Race Breeders Cooperative. |
