The mayor of Quilmes, Mayra Mendoza, headed this Wednesday a meeting with neighbors from the San Ignacio neighborhood, in Bernal Oeste, with the aim of discussing the different works carried out in the area and those that will begin soon, among which stands out the piping of the Confluencia and Cordero channel of the San Francisco – Las Piedras Streams Basin.
“There is management and articulation with the Province of Buenos Aires, in which we are achieving solutions to historical problems, such as the possibility of piping this part of the streams, and that will give us the possibility of being able to generate more community space. For us it is a joy to be able to solve that part and to achieve more conditions to improve the quality of life, which is what our work is about”, said Mayra, who was accompanied by the secretaries of Urban Development and Public Works, Ceci Soler, and Management and Citizen Participation, Julián Bellido.
During her visit, the Communal Chief explained that the Municipality carries out works throughout the Commune in terms of asphalt, potholes, installation of LED lights, community alarms, among others, with the aim of making Quilmes a better city for everyone. . These measures are part of the 30 management commitments assumed by the local Mayor during her first term.
For his part, Soler explained: "We were in the San Ignacio neighborhood at this participatory management table, with neighbors from the area talking about a very important work that will provide infrastructure to the neighborhood, which is the piping and retrofitting of the Confluence and Cordero channel, that is to say that this is the first work of the Environmental and Water Social Plan for our San Francisco - Las Piedras basin. The channel will be lined between Lynch Avenue and Bermejo Street, and the channel will be readjusted up to its confluence with the San Francisco – Las Piedras streams. It is a work that has financing from the Province of Buenos Aires and will start this year”.
In addition, the neighbor Gladys Arias highlighted about the meeting: “Before in political campaigns everyone came but when they were Government they never appeared again. It is the first time that someone is here explaining to us why things are done, it is extremely important. That Mayra is here leaves us surprised. I see her as one more neighbor who is really interested. I am grateful that you tell us all this that the Municipality of Quilmes is doing and what can be achieved”.
In the same line, the neighbor Leonardo Iraola said: “It is very important for the neighborhood and for the community that the Mayor comes to see the situation. We are seeing little by little what is being done and the important thing is that they are present, that gives us the strength to accompany the management of the Municipality. I am grateful that she came to see us.”
From the end of February to the present, different municipal officials held a series of citizen participation meetings with the local men and women of that neighborhood. Based on these meetings, street leveling tasks were carried out and a joint work scheme was coordinated with AySA for the issue of sewers, as well as with the Secretary of Public Services for the arrangement of lights.
In reference to the piping work, it consists of the reconstruction and readjustment of the existing channels that make up the Santo Domingo stream, in the section between the Confluence of the San Francisco-Las Piedras streams, the bifurcation and the branch downstream of it. , which runs along Bermejo Street, to Victorica Street, in Bernal Oeste.
The coordinator of Social Policies of PAMIs UGL 37, Facundo Rivero, also participated in the activity.
