The National Electricity Administration of Paraguay (ANDE) has announced the signing of the contract to start the construction of a photovoltaic generation plant, which will benefit the community of the original Yshyr people of Puerto Esperanza, district of Bahía Negra, in the Chaco Paraguayan. The project consists of the implementation of a hybrid energy generation system based on a photovoltaic plant of the Hybrid On-Grid type, so it can operate as an isolated system with battery backup or connected to a future electrical network, which will be located on a 2-hectare property in the community of Puerto Esperanza de Bahía Negra. In addition, it will include the construction of medium and low voltage networks, assembly of distribution transformers and placement of public lighting fixtures. The operation and maintenance of the plant will be carried out by members of the community, who will be hired and trained by ANDE. The solar plant will have an installed capacity of 700 kWp, from Jinko photovoltaic panels, 700 kW MPPT photovoltaic inverters, 1,000 kW charger inverters, 2,520 kWh battery banks for autonomy, plus 528 kWh of reserve, in total 3,048 kWh. The works have an expected investment of 2.2 million dollars, through International Public Tender No. 1663/2021, financed through the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and with works executed by the Paraguayans Consorcio Esperanza 3 and Cono SRL, and the Chilean Ciudad Luz Energy Service and Butler Corporation (Chile). The execution of the work has a term of 15 months for completion and commissioning, and 27 months for operational acceptance. The project, it is warned, will substantially improve the quality of life of some 250 families in the distant community of the original Yshyr people of Puerto Esperanza, located in the district of Bahía Negra, since these works will directly benefit the homes, the school, the health center, the church, the sports center, the water pumping plant and the public lighting services”. In addition - the statement continues -, they will improve working conditions, with the possibility of having refrigeration equipment for the conservation of products from fishing, the main activity of the inhabitants of said community. |
