The Rwanda Water Resources Board intends to prequalify contractors for the Construction of Muvumba Multipurpose Dam and Power Plant Installation.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 16 August 2022
The assignment comprises the construction of a high dam, including a spillway, intake tower, diversion/outlet culvert, upstream cofferdam and installation of a hydropower plant. The dam is to be constructed on the Muvumba River 12km upstream of Nyagatare town in Nyagatare District which is in the North-Eastern part of Rwanda.
The dam will have a height of 39m and a storage capacity of 55 million m3. The capacity of hydropower to be installed is 1MW (500KW x2) and is expected to generate 6.94GWh annually. The Dam is envisaged to supply water for domestic use, irrigation and livestock.
It is expected that the Request for Bids from the Prequalified bidders will be made in September 2022.
Prequalification will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the African Development Bank’s Procurement Policy for Bank Group Funded Operations, dated October 2015 (“Procurement Framework”), and is open to all eligible Applicants as defined in the Procurement Framework.

The document will be collected from the Rwanda Water Resources Board Head Office, Nyarugenge Pension Plaza, KN 3 Road, Kigali-Rwanda, during office hours.
A pre-application meeting is scheduled on 22 July 2022 at 10am Kigali time. The meeting will be conducted online and the meeting link will be sent to eligible applicants through email.
Applications for prequalification should be submitted in clearly marked envelopes “APPLICATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF MUVUMBA MULTIPURPOSE DAM AND POWER PLANT INSTALLATION: Tender No P000066/2021/2022/RWB” and delivered to the address below by 3pm Kigali time on 16 August 2022.
Late applications may be rejected. The opening of the Applications shall be on 16 August 2022 at 3:30pm Kigali time at Rwanda Water Resources Board Head office, Nyarugenge Pension Plaza, Floor 4, KN 3 Road, Kigali/Rwanda. |
