Work Detail The Startup Cargo Produce has just raised capital in a seed round for US$1.1 million, and projects 100,000 containers flowing through its platform by the end of 2022. Cargo Produce is a platform created by Francisco del Río and Miguel Jubal, who turned their 15-year experience dedicated to international trade into a technology startup "that seeks to become the super platform for exporters and importers at a global level," they explain. Cargo Produce ran for 6 months in stealth mode with a group of early adopter clients, and was officially launched in January of this year. Current clients contribute a volume of 30 thousand containers and expect to reach 100 thousand by the end of this year. The startup has just raised capital in a seed round for US$1.1 million. This fundraising was led by a Chilean family office with investments in the export sector, in addition to the co-founders of Topsort and el Migrante as angel investors. The Financing will be used mainly to train the sales team and add engineers to the technology team, as well as to consolidate its presence in the United States, Peru, Argentina and Chile, in addition to expanding its presence to Mexico in the short term. "Our clients are specialists in their business, they already have an internal structure and an ecosystem of external collaborators that allow them to export or import their products globally", explains Miguel Jubal, co-founder of Cargo Produce, and adds: "We do not alter anything From that structure, what we do at Cargo Produce is to provide them with a software that allows them to bring everything they currently do manually and supported by basic tools, to a single platform that works as the single source of truth for their international supply chain”. The company says that, until the arrival of Cargo Produce, there was no technology that consolidated the main processes of the first mile from a perspective based on the problems of those actors. The so-called first mile of the international supply chain has exporters and importers as its main actors, and moves millions of containers annually to supply the markets. "What happens at this stage will define the success of the last mile in the final markets of the products," explains the company. From atartuo they emphasize that they are capable of replicating in Cargo Produce from the exact nomenclature of their SKUs, purchase orders, sales orders, Sales orders, etc., to the internal validation and control flows of the entire company. “Our system is transversal to all areas of the company. This is because it does not matter what department you belong to. If you work in an exporter or importer, you will have some level of responsibility in the international supply chain. This is how, for example, the financial teams control collection or payment opportunities linked to departures and arrivals of ships, or the commercial and purchasing teams use our Allocation tools,” said Jubal. They recently incorporated a financing service, in collaboration with a Fintech partner, that allows you to convert invoices into cash, if you are an exporter, or buy now and pay up to 120 days later, if you are an importer.
