Work Detail The photovoltaic plant installed in the Huertos de Mallarauco property manages to supply 100% of the energy demands that are used for the production of citrus, avocado, cherry and walnut trees. The Chilean renewable energy company Geom and the Agropecuaria Huertos de Mallarauco Ltda have developed a photovoltaic project in the district of Melipilla (Chile), which makes it possible to green the production processes of citrus, avocado, cherry and walnut trees. The project consists of the installation of 462 solar panels located on the top of Cerro La Culebra, which allows it to generate 342,265 kWh per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 43 homes. The Plant is connected to a junction, which through the Netbilling Law compensates the consumption of the two junctions contracted by the client. The general manager of Geom, Simón Larraín, referred to the benefits of Netbilling for companies that use solar energy. "The Netbilling law allows seasonal businesses such as agribusiness to accumulate savings from energy surpluses that were not reached for self-consumption and offset the bills of the different junctions that the client has."
