Work Detail | Breakbulk shipping line Rickmers is reported to have cancelled plans for consolidation of its ship management activities with German investment firm E.R. Capital. The two firms had been mulling a merger of their ship-management units that would have created a global joint venture with about 220 vessels. Despite the decision not to pursue a merger, the firms plan to continue existing cooperation in the fields of marine insurance and ship brokerage. “We don’t have merger plans with any other companies currently, but if ‘strategic options’ show, we will carefully consider them. Our strategy is focused on new and existing customer relationships and expansion,” said Ignace van Meenen, CEO of Rickmers. Alongside Rickmers Maritime Services, the firm’s ship management business, Rickmers also operates a full range of breakbulk, heavy-lift and project cargo liner service via its Rickmers-Linie unit. |
