November 12 (Renewables Now) - Global construction contractor Multiplex has committed to an off-take contract to secure the renewable power supply for all its UK sites and, at the same time, support the execution of a solar project.
Under the terms of the power purchase agreement (PPA), Multiplex will procure renewable electricity directly from a dedicated producer. The contract includes an additionality clause that ensures the off-take will result in the construction of a new renewable energy plant, the announcement says.
According to Multiplex, this is one of the first initiatives of its kind in the construction industry. The PPA aligns with the company’s objective to achieve net-zero carbon by 2050, including supply chain emissions.
The new solar power station is expected to be commissioned in the opening quarter of 2023. |
